“According to LAVLE, the comparative higher energy density of the advanced battery cells will allow the battery to be used in a hybrid set up for deep sea shipping and for all electric short sea and inland shipping. 3DOM’s batteries are designed to piggyback on the lithium-ion recharging infrastructure currently available. LAVLE wants to standardise shore connections to allow for an easier uptake of marine batteries. Furthermore, LAVLE is working to enable trickle charging in ports and is researching methods to charge the batteries on board.”
